The requirement to provide signs in accordance with BS5499 Part 1 is confirmed under the new Fire Precautions (Workplace Regulations) which have been amended to include premises that were covered by a Fire Certificate.
The risk assessment required under the new regulations has to show that fire safety hazards need to be formally identified and appraised. The manager, owner or occupier has an obligation to consider the risks and to implement adequate precautions to prevent any occurence likely to cause injury or harm to building occupants.
One of the most effective ways to an employer to demonstrate good fire safety management and awareness is to provide good Fire Safety Signs.
