Carbon Dioxide is discharged as a white cloud which smothers fire by cutting off its oxygen.  It is used on a Class B flammable liquid fire and is a clean and odourless gas.

It is safe for use on clothing and electrical equipment etc.

 

Water extinguishers are for use on Class A fires and are mostly supplied as 9 litre, but a 6 litre is available

These are suitable as a Class A & B extinguisher.  They can be applied to Class B liquid spills to prevent ignition and are ideal for emergency first response vehicles.

The ABC or Multi-purpose extinguisher contains special mono ammonium phosphate chemical.  It works by chemically insulating Class A fires by melting at approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit and coats the surface to which it is applied.  It smothers and breaks the chain reaction of Class B fires.

Polished finished water, foam and CO2 extinguishers are available, but do not conform to EN3 standards

A 3 litre water extinguisher with additive is also available. It is smaller and lighter than the 6 or 9 litre water extinguisher, but has the same fire rating

Wet Chemical Extinguishers are used in kitchens, usually where there is kitchen oil in situ. E.g. Deep fat fryers.
